Wednesday night saw the return of former Raptors T.J. Ford and Rasho Nesterovic as Indiana Pacers for the first time since their were dealt for Jermaine O’Neal last July. In a matchup of last place teams (Toronto 8-12 last in Atlantic, Indiana7-13 last in the Central) The Raps were looking to end their current 5 game losing streak, while the Pacers looking to end their 3 game skid. Triano still looking for his first win as the Raps interim coach. Continue Reading

The Toronto Raptors (8-7) started a very difficult 3-game road trip tonight in Los Angeles, where they took on Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and the Lakers (13-1). The Lakers are 8-1 at the Staples Center, while the Raps are 4-3 away from the ACC. The Raptors were given a huge blow with the subtraction of Jermaine O’Neal from the starting line-up, still suffering from an ankle injury sustained a week ago. The Raptors were hoping for big performances from Bargnani, Moon, and Joey Graham to keep this one competitive. They will need to pick up the load left with JO’s absence. Continue Reading

The Raptors came into Friday’s game against the Hawks needing a win to close out a 4 game home stand at 2 – 2 after losing to the Celtics and the Nets. A victory over the Bobcats on Wednesday gave them a better frame of mind against a team that had beaten them once this season. With Jermaine O’Neal on the bench, the Raptors needed to find a way to contain the Hawks on the boards and control the perimeter after being torched by Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson. The Hawks were looking to return to the form that had gotten them off to a 6 – 0 start before losing to the Celtics. Since that loss they were 3 – 5 bringing a 9 – 5 record to Toronto and looking to turn the momentum early in the season. Continue Reading

I’ll spare you the hindsight of how $20mill should actually be spent, what to do with valuable trade assets when a team has certain needs, how not to replace valuable exiting players with euro scrubs and why lasik isn’t necessarily the best way to correct your vision. Continue Reading

It only took 12 games for most critics (mine included) nightmare to come true: O’Neal comes down awkwardly after getting fouled by Sean Williams, and leaves the game in the 4th never to return. I was hoping for a Willis Reed moment since the Nets, on the shoulders of Carter and Harris, took the Raptors into overtime…and beat them in overtime. Seriously, I need to reassess my allegiances. There isn’t anything in my life, that I have put so much effort into, that has continually and progressively disappointed me. Continue Reading

What can you do to stop a team from outscoring you by 18 points in a quarter and a half? The Raptors have lost another game in which they had an 18 point lead late in the 3rd quarter. The Nets started to jump passing lanes, grab offensive boards and Devin Harris came back as Jermaine O’Neal was getting tossed to the floor and had to leave the game with a strained knee. Let’s hope it isn’t a serious injury, but it was our fear from the beginning of the O’Neal experiment. Continue Reading

The Toronto Raptors (5-5) rolled into Miami to take on the Heat (6-5), just one night after a disappointing loss against the Orlando Magic. 24 hours removed from a game in which the Raptors turned the ball over 24 times against the Magic, the Raps wanted to take it to the undersized Heat. They were also given a bonus before the game: Jose Calderon was going to start the game. Continue Reading

The Raptors came into Orlando for the first of two road games in Florida. The Raptors came into tonight’s game looking to avenge some of the hurt from last season’s spanking at the hands of the Magic. Even with the addition of Jermaine O’Neal, this was not the Raps night. Just like 7 months ago in Orlando, the Raps fell short. The glaring need of Jose Calderon was present tonight. Some might describe this game with three words: Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers. I would choose one word: 3-pointers. Continue Reading

This week coming up will be a strong test with Jose Calderon Questionable still with his hamstring and the latest report has him not playing in Orlando or Miami. Perhaps he will play again when the Nets come to visit on Friday the 21st or Sunday the 23rd. Either way, we hope he gets back to 100% and doesn’t rush back too early as we need him healthy.
