Wednesday night saw the return of former Raptors T.J. Ford and Rasho Nesterovic as Indiana Pacers for the first time since their were dealt for Jermaine O’Neal last July. In a matchup of last place teams (Toronto 8-12 last in Atlantic, Indiana7-13 last in the Central) The Raps were looking to end their current 5 game losing streak, while the Pacers looking to end their 3 game skid. Triano still looking for his first win as the Raps interim coach. Continue Reading

The 2008 Toronto Raptors:
So, here we are ¼ of the way into the season and I think its safe to say that I speak for everyone in Raptors Nation from the suits at MLSE to the bloggers at Raptors Republic- that the season to date has been a HUGE disappointment. At while Id like to be optimistic, at this point the facts suggest that as this team stands now, at the quarter mark of the season, this team is headed for a lot more losses than victories AND not only is my prediction of a 50 win season in serious jeopardy (it would require the Raptors to 42 and 21 from this point until the end of the season and win at a clip of .750) but the Raptors making the playoffs this season is NOW in serious jeopardy. It only took 12 games for most critics (mine included) nightmare to come true: O’Neal comes down awkwardly after getting fouled by Sean Williams, and leaves the game in the 4th never to return. I was hoping for a Willis Reed moment since the Nets, on the shoulders of Carter and Harris, took the Raptors into overtime…and beat them in overtime. Seriously, I need to reassess my allegiances. There isn’t anything in my life, that I have put so much effort into, that has continually and progressively disappointed me. Continue Reading

Other then Orlando, I can’t think of a better way to kick the season off. They went on a huge run to end the season, and came within a nose-hair of flushing the Pistons down the toilet. Then staged a huge coup in landing Elton Brand (Mr. 20/10). Continue Reading

I know, its still early to preview the East, since many free agents still remain unsigned and there is still talk of some teams looking to make some major moves (ie/ McGrady to Detroit etc). However, with the start of summer league action underway, all of the major unrestricted free agents signed, and the Raps all capped-out, its time to look forward to the fall - to get a sense of where this team fits (as it is constructed right now). Given two deals on the table, which one would you pull the trigger on:
Scenario 1:
Send TJ to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace.
Scenario 2:
Send TJ, Rasho, Baston and a draft pick to Indiana for Jermaine O’Neal and a pick (worse then the one we sent them). Continue Reading
