Mitchell on the Bubble as the Raptors Lose to the Nets

Posted on 22 November 2008 by Raps Fan

It only took 12 games for most critics (mine included) nightmare to come true: O’Neal comes down awkwardly after getting fouled by Sean Williams, and leaves the game in the 4th never to return. I was hoping for a Willis Reed moment since the Nets, on the shoulders of Carter and Harris, took the Raptors into overtime…and beat them in overtime. Seriously, I need to reassess my allegiances. There isn’t anything in my life, that I have put so much effort into, that has continually and progressively disappointed me. Continue Reading

The Word on the Street

Posted on 30 June 2008 by phdsteve

As we sit back now and wait for the July 1st deadline to pass and bring with it the start of free agency and the next round of NBA transactions, there still appears to be several topics of concern on the minds of NBA fans and Raptors fans everywhere. Continue Reading

Give me a Three, or Give me Death

Posted on 27 June 2008 by Raps Fan

Given two deals on the table, which one would you pull the trigger on:

Scenario 1:
Send TJ to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace.

Scenario 2:
Send TJ, Rasho, Baston and a draft pick to Indiana for Jermaine O’Neal and a pick (worse then the one we sent them). Continue Reading

Raptors Get Their Big Man in O’Neal

Posted on 25 June 2008 by Raps Fan

Eastern Conference contender? A move like this should instantly catapult them into contention…IF O’Neal stays healthy and recaptures his All-Star form from a couple seasons! Continue Reading

Some Thoughts on the Genius of BryCo and the Playoffs

Posted on 12 June 2008 by Raps Fan

So the word is Garbo is on the way out. No real surprise here, I mean, the writing has been on the wall since the season began, and MLSE launched that lawsuit against Spain. What kills me though, is that instead of packaging him with a couple of the other expiring contracts for someone that will help, BC is going to buy him out, get nothing in return (Morris Peterson anyone), and potentially pay a 50% premium to replace him Continue Reading

A Year in Review - How the East was Won (and Lost)

Posted on 07 June 2008 by phdsteve

Quickly- by a show of hands, how many Raptors fans thought that if they drew Detroit in the first round this year that they stood a chance of winning that series (put your hand down Chuck Swirsky- you’d think that they could beat God and Ditka in tennis match, and Chuck Norris in just about anything). The truth is…even the most staunch Raps fan must concede, that beating Orlando seemed really possible this year, as did Jersey last season…but Detroit…fuggeddaboutit. Continue Reading

Some Preliminary Thoughts on the Cap and Free Agency

Posted on 24 May 2008 by phdsteve

Those of you out there dreaming about some big name accusation for the Raps in the off season may want to think again for the simple reason that at the current moment, the Raps don’t have a lot of room under the salary cap. Every summer only 1-2 teams find themselves in a position to be significantly under the cap to take a run at the big name free agents. Last summer it was Orlando and Memphis, this summer it looks to be Philly and Memphis, and in 2009 it will be Toronto. Continue Reading

An Open Letter to Rob Babcock

Posted on 14 May 2008 by phdsteve

Dear Raptors Fans, its time for us to say we’re sorry and move on.

Rob, on behalf of the Raptors Nation, we’re sorry for getting you fired. Now before you get too excited, this is not a letter of forgiveness for drafting Arujio over Iggy, but it is a letter of admission that since that move, you did a lot of good that you never received credit for: i.e. you had the vision and foresight to sign Calderon, you drafted Charlie V, who when he decides to show up is a pretty nice player, and you unlike many other GM’s were able to recoup from a couple of early blunders. Continue Reading

An Open Letter to Chuck Swirsky

Posted on 04 May 2008 by Raps Fan

Dear Chuck,

What a year. Seriously, I haven’t been through so many ups and downs in a single season following the Raptors. Every year, for the most part, you knew what kind of team we had heading into the season. You set your expectations, and away you go. Continue Reading

Raptors lose to Jazz 96-79 [34-33] - March 17, 2008

Posted on 17 March 2008 by Raps Fan

Khandor called it, TJ should be sat at the end of the bench until he figures some things out. I am was a TJ supporter, I love his game, I still think he has a big upside, but he pissed me off something awful tonight. I was for starting him to satisfy his ego, and settle shit, but not anymore. Bench him and fire Lucas, shit is ridiculous. Jose was actually having a pretty good game, but saw little burn in the 4th, don’t know why, don’t really care Continue Reading
