One night after notching a win against the Sacramento Kings, the Toronto Raptors (12-17) settled into Portland to play the Trail Blazers (18-12), who had won 3 of their previous 5 games. Toronto was searching for its first 3 game winning streak since the beginning of the season 3-0. Toronto is 4-11 in their last 15. The Toronto Raptors (8-10) came home from a disappointing west-coast road trip in which they lost all 3 of their games and their head coach Sam Mitchell. The Jay Triano Era of Raptors ball commenced on a sour note last Friday night in Utah. The Utah Jazz dismantled a lifeless Toronto squad with a 114-87 loss. Looking to come home and lick their wounds, Toronto was hoping to turn the corner on a disappointing start to December as they hosted the Northwest Division leading Portland Trail Blazers (14-7). After a crushing defeat against Boston last Friday, Portland, led by Player of the Week Brandon Roy, were 3-1 on their east-coast road trip, having defeated NY, Detroit and Washington before succumbing to the mighty Celtics. It seems that the Raptors season, again, hinges on one Andrea Bargnani. De ja vu as I remember saying this exact thing last season when the Raptors were “deeper” but had no clear # 2. The Toronto Raptors (19-17) will be in tough Sunday when they welcome the Portland Trailblazers (22-13) to the ACC. These teams last met in Portland on December 19th. Brandon Roy led the Blazers, scoring 25 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, and dishing out 8 assists. Continue Reading
