Dear Raptors Fans, its time for us to say we’re sorry and move on.
Rob, on behalf of the Raptors Nation, we’re sorry for getting you fired. Now before you get too excited, this is not a letter of forgiveness for drafting Arujio over Iggy, but it is a letter of admission that since that move, you did a lot of good that you never received credit for: i.e. you had the vision and foresight to sign Calderon, you drafted Charlie V, who when he decides to show up is a pretty nice player, and you unlike many other GM’s were able to recoup from a couple of early blunders. Clearly RaptorsTalk.com is not the spot to go to for breaking news, AltRaps.com broke the story before anyone else. The Raptors send Juan Dixon to the Pistons for Primo Brezec. Another Slovenian (Rasho) center who may not get much more than the 1.7 minutes he averaged in Detroit. In all fairness to Primo, he was playing behind some solid forwards (Wallace, McDyess, Maxiel). I am really interested to see how this pans out for the Raptors. Always good to trade small unused guy for a big unused guy. I would rather have Hermann given the choice, hopefully Colangelo didn’t have that choice, or I would be pissed. Continue Reading

The Raptors come out of the all-star break, and take it right to the Magic. They shot the shit out of the ball, forcing Orlando to keep pace offensively. There was no defense to be found by either team this game. Makes me nervous with a month or so left in the season, that the Raptors defense sucks is suspect at best. I don’t even know where to start right now. I have never yelled so many times in disgust in a Raptors blowout win. Continue Reading

The Lakers started the day by sending their kibbles and bits to Memphis for Gasol, catapulting themselves into title contention. Fortunately for them, they didn’t need him tonight to dispatch the Raptors on the second night of a back-to-back. They lost a heart breaker to the Pistons last night. You would figure they would be a bit tired, and the Raptors could use their supposed depth and attack these guys. Continue Reading

I still had a bad taste in my mouth after the win. Should be 4 wins in a row, and now 3 of the last 4. Call me the ever pessimist, but splitting two games against a team missing two of their all-stars is unacceptable. At this point of the season, the Raptors should be dispatching these sorts of teams relatively easily. Continue Reading

The Raptors bounce back from last nights loss to the Pistons, by beating the Kings who were welcoming back both Ron Artest and Mike Bibby from injury. Bibby was playing in his first game of the season, and really impressed me as it seem he hasn’t missed a beat. He was dangerous from the perimeter, and played really well. Continue Reading

The Toronto Raptors (17-16) invite LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (16-17) to the ACC for a matinee match up Sunday. The Cavaliers won the first meeting of the season on November 24th, 111-108. LeBron had his third triple-double of the season scoring 37 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out 12 assists. The Raptors bounced back to beat the Cavaliers on November 30th, 91-82 with LeBron out of the line up. Carlos Delfino led the Raptors with 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Continue Reading

Bad coaching; bad coaching….bad coaching lost this game. The Raptors closed the 3rd quarter on an 11-2 run, to come within 4 points of the Pistons, and Mitchell elects to sit Bosh and Calderon to start the 4th. Dixon and Humphries didn’t realize that the Pistons are elite, and would come out swinging to burry them. Off of a couple turn overs, and Raptor brain farts, the Pistons go on a 6-0 run to start the 4th (2 minutes and change), until Mitchell decides, a little to too late, to bring Bosh and Calderon back in, far too late to mount any significant comeback. I must admit, I wrote the Raptors off in the first quarter, with Bosh going 1 for 8 from the field (missed jumpers). The shots didn’t start falling, but the defense picked up the slack for the team in the second half, and the Raptors came away with an important win on their first game of a 7 game road swing.
