Raptors look to win 2 in a row against the 76ers

Toronto Raptors vs Philadelphia 76ers
November 12, 2008.

Which team are we going to get? The one that started 3-0, who could do no harm, heralding BryCo as genius’? Or the one that went 1-3 since, with calls for change from coaching and management? In a game that reaks of redemption for the Sixers, the Raptors host another underachieving team. Continue Reading

Raps Win Opener in Philly….Start the Parade!

Posted on 29 October 2008 by Hollywood Gino

After a summer full of debates on the Jermaine O’Neal trade, the fruit of Bryan Colangelo’s transaction was on display in the season opener for the Raps this evening against the Philadelphia 76er’s. With worries about the health of JO, the fatigue factor of Bosh and Calderon after playing in Beijing, a depleted bench from the stocked one last season, and the enigmas of Andrea Bargnani and Joey Graham, the Raps came out and won a hard fought road victory against the 76er’s, and spoiling the home debut for Elton Brand in Philly, winning 95-84. First Up: The 76ers

Toronto Raptors @ Philadephia 76ers
October 30, 2008

Other then Orlando, I can’t think of a better way to kick the season off. They went on a huge run to end the season, and came within a nose-hair of flushing the Pistons down the toilet. Then staged a huge coup in landing Elton Brand (Mr. 20/10). Continue Reading

The Bargnani Experiment

Posted on 25 August 2008 by Raps Fan

It seems that the Raptors season, again, hinges on one Andrea Bargnani. De ja vu as I remember saying this exact thing last season when the Raptors were “deeper” but had no clear # 2. This year, they have their second 20 point scorer, no controversy at the point - but the bench is thin. Continue Reading

East Preview 1.0

Posted on 14 July 2008 by phdsteve

I know, its still early to preview the East, since many free agents still remain unsigned and there is still talk of some teams looking to make some major moves (ie/ McGrady to Detroit etc).  However, with the start of summer league action underway, all of the major unrestricted free agents signed, and the Raps all capped-out, its time to look forward to the fall - to get a sense of where this team fits (as it is constructed right now). Let’s Get Restricted

Posted on 07 July 2008 by phdsteve

You see, the problem with this years free agent crop is just that….everyone is…restricted.

A couple of days a go it looked like only Arenas would be the only real FA of any value, but then the crazy Elton Brand and Baron Davis opt outs happened and the result has been even more craziness. Continue Reading

The Word on the Street

Posted on 30 June 2008 by phdsteve

As we sit back now and wait for the July 1st deadline to pass and bring with it the start of free agency and the next round of NBA transactions, there still appears to be several topics of concern on the minds of NBA fans and Raptors fans everywhere. Continue Reading

Some Preliminary Thoughts on the Cap and Free Agency

Posted on 24 May 2008 by phdsteve

Those of you out there dreaming about some big name accusation for the Raps in the off season may want to think again for the simple reason that at the current moment, the Raps don’t have a lot of room under the salary cap. Every summer only 1-2 teams find themselves in a position to be significantly under the cap to take a run at the big name free agents. Last summer it was Orlando and Memphis, this summer it looks to be Philly and Memphis, and in 2009 it will be Toronto. Continue Reading
