The Toronto Raptors (40-40) are holding down the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference, but will need to finish the season strong in order to hold off the Philadelphia 76ers. The Raptors take on a D-league caliber Miami Heat (14-66) Monday night at the ACC. Continue Reading
I have to give the Raptors credit for a win against the Pistons. This was their 3rd win against a better team in 2008 (Boston and Orlando the other other two). The Raptors grinded out a win. Don’t let the score fool you, the Pistons twice came within 4 points of the Raptors, both times, battling from deficits of 17 and 15 points. The fact that the Raptors were able to whether the imminent attack(s), and maintain the lead in the 4th quarter, in crunch time, well…I’m not accustomed to that. It was almost a perfect game for me: the crowd was pumped, hotties were popping out of their tight tops, my roast beef sandwich was perfect, the half-time show was impressive, and I almost didn’t have to hear Chuck/Leo’s voice the whole night until Leo got Jose for the post game. I have to be honest, I was actually deflated a bit…but I digress… Continue Reading
The ACC will be at full capacity Wednesday night when the Central Division leading Detroit Pistons (50-20) visit the Toronto Raptors (35-35). If the playoffs started today the Pistons would host the Raptors in the first round, a match up that Raptor fans do not want to see. Continue Reading
Carlos Delfino has had a great season. Picked up for two future 2nd round picks from the Detroit Pistons in the off-season, he flew under the radar as an inconsequential pick-up, a move meant to add bench depth and continue to grow the Raptors’ international flavor. Continue Reading
Clearly RaptorsTalk.com is not the spot to go to for breaking news, AltRaps.com broke the story before anyone else. The Raptors send Juan Dixon to the Pistons for Primo Brezec. Another Slovenian (Rasho) center who may not get much more than the 1.7 minutes he averaged in Detroit. In all fairness to Primo, he was playing behind some solid forwards (Wallace, McDyess, Maxiel). I am really interested to see how this pans out for the Raptors. Always good to trade small unused guy for a big unused guy. I would rather have Hermann given the choice, hopefully Colangelo didn’t have that choice, or I would be pissed. Continue Reading
Chris Bosh, the reigning NBA Player of the Week, leads the Toronto Raptors (20-17) into Motown to face the Central Division leading Detroit Pistons (28-10) on Tuesday night. Bosh averaged 33 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 2.0 bpg last week and won the award for the fourth time in his career. The Pistons knocked off the Raptors earlier this month 101-85. Rip Hamilton scored a team high 22 points and Andrea Bargnani scored a game high 25 points. Continue Reading
Bad coaching; bad coaching….bad coaching lost this game. The Raptors closed the 3rd quarter on an 11-2 run, to come within 4 points of the Pistons, and Mitchell elects to sit Bosh and Calderon to start the 4th. Dixon and Humphries didn’t realize that the Pistons are elite, and would come out swinging to burry them. Off of a couple turn overs, and Raptor brain farts, the Pistons go on a 6-0 run to start the 4th (2 minutes and change), until Mitchell decides, a little to too late, to bring Bosh and Calderon back in, far too late to mount any significant comeback.
