I was at this game, so forgive me for not having a play-by-play. Truth be told, I wasn’t really into this one to begin with. If the Raptors lost, I would have launched my philly cheese-steak (which used to be so much better at the ACC) into the Raptors bench. Milwaukee was on the second night of a back-to-back and aren’t playing well at all (for unknown reasons, they have a long athletic front court, with pretty decent guard/small forwards to boot). Quality win for the Raptors. Not a must win, but it really was. Can’t be losing to teams who aren’t .500 at this point. Can’t get excited over this win, but I am for one reason: the Hawks went on a 13-2 run to start the 3rd, and the Raptors responded with a run of their own to take a lead into the 4th. You read it, the Raptors withstood a serious run, retook the lead, and held on for the win. Continue Reading
What a boring game. I put down my notes halfway through the 3rd because there was no chance the Knick’s were going to come back and take it, I would have bet my left nut on it. I don’t even know what to say, the game sucked the life out of me. Ruined my night. I am really glad the Raptors won, because if we lost to the Knick’s, if we ever lose to the Knick’s this season, the shit storm I will raise will be bad. Continue Reading
Rule # 1: stop the bleeding … check!
Rule # 2: fix the problem … uhmm, working on it.
So the Raptors won a game, I’m not going to say a must win, but it was. Can’t be losing to lesser teams at this point of the season. Those sorts of transgressions can only happen at the beginning of the year when things are being worked out/through; or at the end of the season, when things don’t matter, and Baston, Graham and Martin running wild on the court. By far the most entertaining Raptor game I have seen all season. It was worth staying up, and risking being out of commission during my 9am meeting in the morning. The Raptors came out strong and played well for 3 quarters, then it all fell apart in the 4th. Horrible substitutions and match-ups cost the Raptors the win. Smitch should be hog tied and bull whipped for his incompetence. Continue Reading
I must admit, I wrote the Raptors off in the first quarter, with Bosh going 1 for 8 from the field (missed jumpers). The shots didn’t start falling, but the defense picked up the slack for the team in the second half, and the Raptors came away with an important win on their first game of a 7 game road swing. With Calderon being in a contract year, I got to thinking what impact resigning him would have on the Raptors. You have to imagine that he has earned something comperable to what TJ is making. I started to dig up player salaries, and found some very interesting things. We all know that one of the reasons Colangelo took this job was the favourable salary cap situation in Toronto. How favourable was a bit of a surprise to me. Below is the Raptors salary situation until the 2010-2011 season: Continue Reading
It will be the battle of .500 teams when the Toronto Raptors (6-6) visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-5) Saturday afternoon. The Raptors are coming off a win over the Grizzlies 95-89. Forward Chris Bosh had a monster game, scoring 22 points and grabbing 19 boards. Center Andrea Bargnani had his first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and adding 11 rebounds. The Raptors had a balanced attack with six different players scoring in double digits. Continue Reading
