Quickly- by a show of hands, how many Raptors fans thought that if they drew Detroit in the first round this year that they stood a chance of winning that series (put your hand down Chuck Swirsky- you’d think that they could beat God and Ditka in tennis match, and Chuck Norris in just about anything). The Toronto Raptors (17-16) invite LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers (16-17) to the ACC for a matinee match up Sunday. The Cavaliers won the first meeting of the season on November 24th, 111-108. LeBron had his third triple-double of the season scoring 37 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out 12 assists. The Raptors bounced back to beat the Cavaliers on November 30th, 91-82 with LeBron out of the line up. Carlos Delfino led the Raptors with 24 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Continue Reading

There are a lot of question marks going into the Friday match up between the Cleveland (9-7) Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors (8-7). The injury bug has plagued the Cavs all year and is hitting the Raps lately. Superstar forward LeBron James suffered a sprained finger in Wednesday’s loss to the Detroit Pistons. The Cavs are already without Larry Hughes (leg) and Donyell Marshall (wrist), but they can ill afford to lose LeBron for anytime. James is a game time decision. The Raptors lost forward Chris Bosh (groin) and Andrea Bargnani (knee) in Wednesdays win over the Grizzlies. Bargnani is expected to be in the line up and Bosh is considered day to day. It will be the battle of .500 teams when the Toronto Raptors (6-6) visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-5) Saturday afternoon. The Raptors are coming off a win over the Grizzlies 95-89. Forward Chris Bosh had a monster game, scoring 22 points and grabbing 19 boards. Center Andrea Bargnani had his first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and adding 11 rebounds. I want to start by apologizing to the 12 or so people who read my blog for being so quiet this off-season. Aside from the rumors and the trades, nothing interests me about it. With little on the line, pre-season game’s lack focus and intensity, and really, I can’t stomach watching Graham, Baston and Moon playing 20+ minutes of WNBA caliber basketball. This may be a stretch, but is it possible that Chuck Swirsky is sponsored by Starbucks? Think about it, how many times have you heard him preach the praises of some Starbucks product; most recently todays post which mentions some sort of lemon green tea beverage. I really don’t have a problem with this, hell, I would start dropping names on the regular if someone decided to pay me for my words. I just felt it necessary to spill the beans.
