15 losses in the last 21 game is not the kind of streak the Raptors want to be on heading into the playoffs. In what started as a promising season, things have fallen apart rapidly. At a time when confidence should be high, a solid rotation is set, people know their roles, the offense is hitting on all cylinders, you are able to make a solid stop or two on the defensive end, and the team is generally getting along, things couldn’t look more bleak for the Raps. The Toronto Raptors (38-37) look to clinch a playoff birth for the second year in a row when they play the Charlotte Bobcats (28-47) tonight at the ACC. The Raptors knocked off the Bobcats 104-100 on Wednesday Night. Continue Reading
Arsenalist asked me why I was so upset last night over the loss to the Hornets, and if I expected the Raptors to win. I didn’t expect a win, but I thought it was possible given the Hornets were playing their 4th game in 6 nights, on the road. Could they have come out with lots of energy and stole one against the best team in the West given those circumstances? Yes. Should they have? No. Continue Reading
The Toronto Raptors (37-36) hit the road Monday night to take on the suddenly hot Charlotte Bobcats (28-45). The last time these two clubs met the Bobcats out rebounded the Raptors 50-37; including 18-6 on the offensive end, en route to a 110-98 win. Continue Reading
Sadly, this is a lottery team without Bosh. After leading 32-22 at the end of the first, Smitch decided to go small-ball, and it all fell apart. What a disgusting game. How do you lose to a team that is 19-39? Give them 18 offensive rebounds, open jumpers, play small ball, basically do everything wrong. Two games in a row, and Smitch is exposed as having no strategy other than ride Bosh into the ground. How else do you explain him playing Bosh 40 minutes in a blowout win over the Wolves? That was probably the catalyst for losing Bosh for 4 games. Continue Reading
The Toronto Raptors (9-8) will look to get back in the win column tonight when they host the Charlotte Bobcats (6-9) at the ACC. The Raptors are coming off a tough loss in Washington Saturday night, 101-97. The Raptors were without Chris Bosh for the second straight game and even though players stepped it up it wasn’t enough. Jason Kapono scored a season high 23 points and Jamario Moon had his second career double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Caron Butler had a game high 29 points and Antawn Jamison added 28 points and 14 rebounds for the Arenasless Wizards. Continue Reading
This is just me reading the betweens, nothing concrete or substantiated, but Colangelo is playing his cards perfectly not to resign Mitchell, and come out the good-guy. He is quoted as saying the budget for a coach is “realistic and reasonable,” but it’s certainly not limitless. And “the game is looking at 30 contracts, looking at successes. Not just one week in a season, it’s an entire season.” Not exactly a ringing endorsement for the incumbent Joke Coach of Year.Continue Reading
