Posted on 15 October 2007 by masterjuddi

Toronto Raptor franchise player Chris Bosh tweaked his knee in a scrimmage during the teams training camp in Treviso, Italy. Bosh missed one pre-season game against Spanish powerhouse, Real Madrid, a game in which the Raptors lost 104-103. The all-star is currently listed as day-to-day, but this injury has Raptor fans a little nervous. Continue Reading

Raptors at Euro Championships

Posted on 15 September 2007 by masterjuddi

The Toronto Raptors are very well represented this summer at the European Basketball Championships. Five Raptors have taken part in the tournament and all five have enjoyed success. Spanish starting point guard Jose Calderon has helped quarterback his team into the finals, averaging 11.1 ppg and 2.6 apg. Fellow countrymen Jorge Garbajosa, whom many felt shouldn’t have played this summer, came off the bench and averaged 8.0 ppg and 2.4 rpg. Spain will meet a powerful Greece squad which should turn out to be a great final. Continue Reading

Raptors clinch Atlantic Division

Posted on 07 April 2007 by masterjuddi

With their win over Philadelphia combined with New Jersey’s loss to Chicago, the Raps clinch their first ever Atlantic Division crown. Now the Raptors focus will be on holding off the Miami Heat and clinching 3rd overall in the Eastern Conference.

If the Raps are able to clinch 3rd, they could meet the Washington Wizards, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic or Indiana Pacers. The Wizards are injury ridden and hold a 4 game lead on the Nets for 6th, but with seven games remaining including a home and home series with the

Nets, it will be tough for them to hold 6th place. The Magic aren’t deep at all and they would need Dwight Howard to put up monster numbers if they wanted to make any noise in the playoffs. The Pacers don’t really have an identity right now, but they do have a talented squad and I wouldn’t want them to come alive in the first round.

I feel confident that the Raptors would do well against any of those team in a playoff series. They have a deeper bench, better team basketball and a building that has proved to be a tough place to play. GO RAPS GO

Raptors Game notes vs. Orlando

Posted on 04 April 2007 by masterjuddi

The Raptors bounce back from a tough loss last night and defeat the Orlando Magic 111-108 in a very chippy game. Chris Bosh led the way with 28 points and 10 rebounds and Anthony Parker went 4-8 from 3 point land and finished with 20 points. TJ Ford and Jose Calderon had strong games finishing with a combined 15 assists and Joey Graham added a solid 19 points.

Even though the Raps were outrebounded 41-27, it was their ability to score off turnovers that led to the season sweep over the Magic. Orlando committed 23 to’s compared to Toronto’s 15.

The Magic came out on fire early and led by as much as 15 points in the first half, but the Raps battled back and closed the gap to five at halftime. The Raptors gained the lead midway through the 3rd quarter and didnt trail again. The Magic did manage to tie the game late but poor execution during key possesions cost them the game.

With the win the Raptors move 1 game ahead of Miami for third place in the East.

Some off the court news for the Raptors: Luke Jackson signed a second 10 day contract; Anthony Parker won the Sportsmanship award for the Atlantic Division; Andrea Bargnani joined the Raptors on the sidelines; Jorge Garbajosa gave a phone interview during the 3rd quarter.
