So the word is Garbo is on the way out. No real surprise here, I mean, the writing has been on the wall since the season began, and MLSE launched that lawsuit against Spain. What kills me though, is that instead of packaging him with a couple of the other expiring contracts for someone that will help, BC is going to buy him out, get nothing in return (Morris Peterson anyone), and potentially pay a 50% premium to replace him Continue Reading

The Toronto Raptors (26-22) hit the road for a quick trip to play the worst team in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves (10-38). This will be the first game of a back-to-back for the Raptors; they’ll play at home against the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
The Raptors ran into a red hot Corey Maggette on Friday night and lost to the Clippers 102-98. Maggette scored a game high 35 points and was perfect from behind the 3-point arc (5-5). Chris Bosh scored a team high 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Timberwolves had the Boston Celtics right where they wanted them Friday night. The game was tied and the Wolves had possession with less than a minute, but a turnover led to mad scrabble under the Wolves basket and Leon Powe nailed a buzzer beating lay up to win the game. The game featured the return of Kevin Garnett to Minnesota, but KG wasn’t in the line up because of abdominal injury.
Starting 5:
Jose Calderon/Sebastian Telfair
Anthony Parker/Marko Jaric
Jamario Moon/Corey Brewer
Chris Bosh/Ryan Gomes
Andrea Bargnani/Al Jefferson
Game Notes:
Raptors F Kris Humphries received another DNP Friday night. It was his second in 3 games; Friday nights game was the 1000th in the history of the Raptors; TJ Ford had 2 points and 6 assists in just under 13 minutes in his second game back from injury; the Raptors are 12-12 on the road this season.
Timberwolves F Antoine Walker has been rumoured to be on the move before the NBA trade deadline. He averages 8.1 ppg in just under 20 minutes a game; F/C Al Jefferson is averaging 21.5 ppg and 12.2 in his breakout season; the Timberwolves are 8-16 at home this season.

…The Raptors being the Atlantic champions that is. The Wolves and Celtics finally agreed to a trade that gutted the Celtics bench (Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes and Sebastian Telfair) in return for the 10 time all-star Kevin Garnett. With Ainge’s earlier trade landing Ray Allen, there was definitely a push to win now. With The Garnett move, the Celtics move into the Eastern Conference Elite with an All-Star trio of Pierce, Allen and Garnett. Continue Reading

Isiah and Ainge finally made some moves that help their teams. Hear me out before you start comment spamming me:
The Knicks moved Steve Francis and Channing Frye for Zach Randolph and a couple rejects. At first glance, it looks like Isiah may have mortgaged the future, for another head case; but if you look a bit closer, you will see he made the right decision. Continue Reading
