Dear Chuck,
What a year. Seriously, I haven’t been through so many ups and downs in a single season following the Raptors. Every year, for the most part, you knew what kind of team we had heading into the season. You set your expectations, and away you go. Continue Reading

Outbidding both Steve Kerr and Michael Jordan, Colangelo pulled a ku-de-ta in a surprise 11th hour signing. Norman has slipped through the cracks, going un-drafted out of college, and toiling in obscurity until Paul Pierce found him during a pick-up game in South Central Los Angeles.
Although he is ineligible for the 2008 playoffs, Norman is expected to start at the three spot come next season. His age was a concern, but B.C. though the shooting outweighed any physical liabilities he may have. Dave Hopla has called him the greatest pure shooter in the world:

15 losses in the last 21 game is not the kind of streak the Raptors want to be on heading into the playoffs. In what started as a promising season, things have fallen apart rapidly. At a time when confidence should be high, a solid rotation is set, people know their roles, the offense is hitting on all cylinders, you are able to make a solid stop or two on the defensive end, and the team is generally getting along, things couldn’t look more bleak for the Raps. The weirdest thing has been happening to me over the last few years. I would watch a Raptor game, be disgusted with the result, take the verbal/visual diarrhea - internalize it, get run down, rock myself in fetal position, sob uncontrollably, twitch…what have you. Then, the game would be over, I would start to feel better, but something would be drawing me back. Like a crack whore to the glass dick of death, every other day (or so), I would flip the TV on, and resume the abuse at the hands of th Raptors. Continue Reading

Man, Anthony Parker was good. Really good. Over four seasons at Bradley, Parker averaged 15 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per night while kicking in close to a steal and a half and two thirds of a block per contest, too. He shot the ball in a fairly efficient manner, had 3-point range, and got to the line at a rate of over 5 times per game, a great number for the college basketball world. He also won the 1995 MVP award for the Missouri Valley Conference. The only real knock against Parker when he entered the NBA Draft in 1997 was that he might have been better served coming out the year before, when he put up college-career highs of 18.9-6.5-3.5 on 47.2% shooting and 42.2% from long range. His junior year was his best, but his staggering numbers and consistency across four seasons was what made him a reliable draft pick, either as a late lottery pick or a late-1st round steal. Carlos Delfino has had a great season. Picked up for two future 2nd round picks from the Detroit Pistons in the off-season, he flew under the radar as an inconsequential pick-up, a move meant to add bench depth and continue to grow the Raptors’ international flavor. Continue Reading
