Can’t get too excited about a pre-season game, but a win is always better then a loss (might as well start the winning mentality from the get go).I did my best to follow the audio feed, but listening to a pre-season game is a tall order, even for yours truly. Regardless, they didn’t need my support as Lebron got 8 minutes of burn which translated into an automatic win, even for the Raptor bench.
A few things from the box score that caught my attention:
- Joey Graham got a DNP-CD. I don’t remember the severity of his injury, but I hope he was out for injury reasons and not some esoteric coaching decision.
- Bargnani was 0 in the +/- column. Many of you will argue that these stats don’t really mean anything, but when every other player on the Raptors was at least a +1 (the next lowest was +7), you have to be happy that he wasn’t a -5 (that he averaged for all of last season). I’m trying the glass-is-half-full way of life.
- Kapono picked up from where he left off…from the regular season. He managed 5 shots in 26 minutes, with only one trey. Without watching the full game, and not being privy to the plays being run, hopefully it is a pre-season anomaly. He did drop an elbow on Mo Williams, must have had something to do with the guys being tougher.
Bring on the Knicks!

I didn’t see (or listen to) the game either, but looking at the box score, it’s great to see Bargnani get 8 rebounds. He’s only gotten that many or more rebounds 9 times during his first two years in the league. Only 25 minutes, 8 rebounds, that’s nice. He scored 15 points as well, his shot chart has shots coming from all over the floor.

I was also encouraged by the Bargnani numbers. Of course, I couldn’t see what he was playing against, or whether it was all garbage time… but still, at least we know that he can clean up in garbage time while JO and Bosh bear the brunt of the opposing players.

I didn’t even notice the rebounds. Obviously he wasn’t battling Wallace Smith or Varejeo all night, but glass half full!
