Raptors beat the Bobcats 104-100 [38-36] - March 31, 2008 !Lame Post Alert!

Posted on 31 March 2008 by Raps Fan

Arsenalist asked me why I was so upset last night over the loss to the Hornets, and if I expected the Raptors to win. I didn’t expect a win, but I thought it was possible given the Hornets were playing their 4th game in 6 nights, on the road. Could they have come out with lots of energy and stole one against the best team in the West given those circumstances? Yes. Should they have? No.

The question we should all be asking is why wasn’t it really close. I mean, the bench outplayed their bench in the 4th, and made a run of it, but the Hornets starters got back in, and Bosh rode pine, no chance, a rebellion loss, the south lost.

What really pissed me off about the game was the lack of effort. Sure the Raptors scored 111 points, but that was because the Hornets decided to chide the Raptors into an up-and-down game, where they could out-gun them, no chance as the Raptors fell for it, hook-line-and-sinker. They always fall for that. They are athletic enough to run a bit, they have skills enough to finesse a bit, but they don’t have enough to put it all together and become a top team in the east, for now…hopefully this is temporary.

So the Raptors played the Bobcats tonight, and I bet you are wondering why I’m not talking about that game. I figure f*ck them, that’s why. If the Raptors will decide to turn their game on and off, I will decide to blog about them, or maybe I will choose to link to a site on The Economist about the harmony between science and religion (I have actually read a couple of those books that are found behind my big head in my video podcasts :P).

Sorry for the lame post, I had another rough day…I hate working in IT, it pays the bills, and affords me a pretty good life, but it also sucks the life out of me.

I think you’re being a bit harsh on the effort element. I thought the perimeter D was pretty bad but the effort was there. CB4 manned up and went to the FT line in the fourth - that was the difference.

They have a matchup advantage over us, we did good to overcome it.

i probably am arse, this season really wore me down, i need a vacation, it was nice watching the suns/denver game last night, suns are coming out of the west, i have a feeling.

as far as last nights game, they fought hard, there was effort, much more than the hornets game, and that is where my frustration comes from. zero effort against a better team, but against a comperable one, they go all out, i don’t get it.

i think the bobcats will be a much better team next season when they get morrison and may back and grab someone in the lottery.

Inconsistency breeds frustration, but be happy for enough wins to get in position for the playoffs to begin. Maybe they will be more motivated to play more defense, more often, as the offense will be ok. They will be measured by success or failure in the playoffs.

the Hornets/Raptors game was a match up of the best in the West and they middle of the pack in the East. The Hornets are a strong team and when you have CP3 gettting guys like Peja and West good shots along with himself, then there arent too many teams that stand a channce. the Raps ran into a hot hot team that night, a team out of their league…end of story.
as for the Bobcats game, I had to go and play some bball of my own so i only caught the first quarter and the last 5 mintues, but the end result of a Raptor win was nice to see. the raps now sit tied for 5th with Washington, which means if things dont change they’ll play Orlando (best case scenario).
another thing that happened the other day was that Stanford’s twin towers (7 footers) Brook and Robin Lopez declared for the draft, which means that the draft is becoming pretty deep. http://nbadraft.net/ the raps currently sit in 17th, and if the mock draft is accurate at all, that means Roy Hibbert should be available to them. He’s a 7′2 senior who has been part of a well coached successful program and I think he could fit in nicely with the Raptors. just a thought, but the raps need a big man and they dont come any bigger this year then ROY

johnn19: i hope they are motivated to play defense, but they haven’t been for most of the season, hard to see that changing now. man…i’m totally jaded, lol.

masterjuddi: hibbert would be a nice addition. the thing i most like about him is that he is a senior. mature ballers out of college are a dieing breed. he’s not the most athletic guy, but he’s a beast, and we can use one of those.

knowing bc, and i don’t, but based on the trend, he will find some dude out of portugal who shoots hooks from outside the arc, but very little else.
