Raptors lose to King 106-100 [34-32] - March 16, 2008

Posted on 17 March 2008 by Raps Fan

Sigh….I’m tired man. I need Bosh to come back, cause I can’t watch D-League ball anymore. Thankfully I will miss the rape and pillage in Utah Monday night.

IBM Winning Strategies:

  1. Back to basics on defense
  2. Rebound
  3. Ball control

Needless to say the Raptors got 1 of the 3 winning strategies. The 3rd one really shouldn’t be a key to winning, as the Raptors do it pretty well. They share the ball and limit turnovers rather effectively.

What kills me is that usually a team only gets one chance to make a run a game when being down. The Raptors got two, count them TWO, chances against the Kings; once taking a 1 point lead, and the second coming within a point. Both times, the Kings went on a mini-run, and pulled away.

Raptors take a 1 point lead in the 3rd:
They took the lead on some really good ball movement, timely shots, and defense. All things they should always be doing, not just in short stretches of games. Anyways, the Raptors take a one point lead, then totally stop playing defense. Sacramento gets a few OPEN looks, and nails them.

Raptors cut lead to 2 in the 4th:
Again, the Raptors play some good defense, hit some shots and get within two points, when Moon decides to shoot a three from the corner. He obviously misses, prompting Chuck Swirsky to say “wow, I’m not sure that’s the shot you want to take.” Anyways, the Kings come back down on the next possession and pop a trey, 5 point swing, game over.

Add in some sketchy substitutions (or lack thereof) by Smitch, TJ not finding a hot Kapono until the well runs dry, and the Raptors generally suckin, and we have a loss against a weak team. Oh yea, Jose sucked for his nth game in a row. Where the heck did he disapear too? At least TJ is trying to make some plays in this last little stretch, Jose has up and left.

Oh, and if the Kings didn’t turn the ball over so damn much, this game would have been much worse than it appeared. I say appeared because the Raptors lost by 6, but it really never felt like the Kings were in Jeopardy of losing. Whatever….

in all fairness, the two of them didn’t bother me as much last night as other nights. i think the losing is getting to everyone.

tonight is going to be clinics left and right. gotta love jazz execution in the half court, thing of beauty. they are my dark horse in the west.

I actually detected a bit of Raptor sadness in Cluck last night. Like he knew even HE couldn’t make everything all rosey.

I have a feeling that the Utah game might actually be a competitive one. I can’t see these guys being happy to have let that one get away yesterday and nobody wants to come back O-fer.

Pride sometimes puts some fire in the gas tank.

I think I had an aneurysm when Moon took that 3shot in the 4th.

Might sit out this next game and watch Wednesday, I can’t take the abuse.

  5. Raps Fan Says:

it might be competitive for a quarter or two, but they will wear the raptors into the ground…although, the first time they played early in the year, with bosh injured, the raptors only lost by 4. but now that they have korver, they should be loads tougher.

lol @ kidm thank G*d for miami huh? the only point of watching tonights game is to get a glimpse of what a team that is competing for a championship looks like. williams and boozer are sick, and sloan is top 3 coaches in the league, if not the best. you will see some primo execution tonight.

  6. kidm Says:

Honestly, I’ll be happy if they loose by less than 10 tonight. (not really)

Wonder what people will think if we lose to Miami……
