Man I hate TSN broadcasts, but at least Rod Black doesn’t pretend to know anything about basketball. Why is everyone saying that this is a huge game? Ok, I mean I understand, but why be so cavalier about this game, but no peep about the 3 previous ridiculously digusting dry heaving ee water @#*&$()#… games? To imply that winning this game for the possible tie breaker if they end up with the same record is…absurd, seriously absurd.
Anyways, they lost because they couldn’t hit shots, gave the Magic more than enough open looks, played small ball…no Chris Bosh, no hope…bla bla bla…the lone bright light was the rebounding situation, which really didn’t matter as the offense was stagnant and didn’t go anywhere…anwyays, check out the usual suspects (Arsenalist, Dinosty, Cuzoogle and AltRaps) for their thoughts on what went wrong, all I can muster tonight is a my play-by-play:

- Calderon steps inside the arc and hits the jumper.
- Burgers are here, see you in the 2nd.

- Moon throws Hump an alley-oop on the break.

- Parker hits a contested trey off Calderon’s penetration.

- Turkoglu nails an OPEN trey…no one rotated fast enough.
- Delfino tips in a missed Humphries shot.
- Nelson sticks an open trey in Calderon’s eye.
- Moon passes on an open dunk, instead of dunking it…fucking pansy…I hate him.
- Ford hits a leaning/floater at the buzzer.
4th Quarter:
- TJ step to the free throw line and nails a jumper over Arroyo.
- Moon gives Evans a wide open look behind the arc.
- Howard puts down an alley-oop off the lob pass from Cook, Raptors timeout.
- TJ hits a layup in a helter skelter run up the court…ugly, but deadly.
- TJ tips the ball away from Howard, and draws the foul.
- The Raptors are standing around watching, no movement.
- Hedu hits a trey in transition.
- Ford answers with one of his own.
- Howard spins and dunks over Bargnani.
- Ford comes back and drops a J over Arroyo.
- Smitch goes small ball, again…
- …and it leads to a sweeping Howard hook as the clock expires.
- Hedo throws Howard an alley-oop pass from half-court, Raptors timeout (games over, fyi).

Pretty much what I expected other than T.J. going crazy there at the end. He was not going to pass that ball….

Adonal Foyle with the facial slam! Highlight of the game. Raptors gave a good effort, just couldn’t get the offense going. Maybe because the offense is run exclusively through Bosh, and with him out we look a little lost.
TJ was a little reckless in the fourth.
Jose was abused all night by Jameer Nelson. Not good…not good.

I can’t say I hated this game. They exerted effort, they banged on the boards, some 3s didn’t drop. It was almost as if the team switched strengths for one game, but just not enough.
Is it just me or did it look like Dwight Howard was either pissed off, sick or disinterested until the very end? In the first quarter he looked irritated at not getting the ball and I think that led to the fouls and low output (even given the 10rebs).
We caught that break, just too bad that we couldn’t capitalize.

If they rest Bosh for the rest of the year will they make the lottery
Losing to Miami the rest of the way would really hurt their changes of getting the #1 pick. So tonight we see two bad teams trying to lose. Oh well there ia always next year.

I think Raptors sometimes or most of times rely on jumpshots… I mean especially when they are lacking a big guy,….

I just feel this is a temporary setback. The Raps will not go down that easiy. I’m still hoping for a high place finishing in the Conference.

i agree altraps, they did play hard last night. they were just out-manned. i wasn’t so much upset at the game, as i was lulled into a waking coma from boredom and the realization that there was nothing they could do to win this game. then i got to thinking about how bad those 3 previous losses were, and became disenfranchised. whatever, the effort was there, that’s why i didn’t rip them.
adonal foyle shouldn’t be dunking on anyone…dude sucks.
so by my total, not counting last nights game, the raptors lost 9 or 10 (depending on your take on the portland game) games that they should have won.
i bring that up because i really think if they grabbed even half of those, the bs coming out of the pr machine would be more likely. this team lost those games for a reason; they don’t have it in them to be a top team, plain and simple. anyways, i’m off to fight traffic/weather to work…balls.

Raps Fan > yeah, I do like Rod Black doing it. Good play-by-play again, as per usual.
cuzzy > this is why there are so many TJ vs Jose bickerings. TJ going back to his “me vs world” mentality makes it hard to argue for him.
AltRaps > they did look like they were battling more so than the past few games. We could indeed be in a slump???
Melvin > we live and die by the jumper. and when the jumper doesn’t go down … I would have liked to see a 2 man game w/ Rasho on the blcoks and AP cutting …
john > maybe it’s a strategy to place lower in the seedings
March 5th, 2008 at 9:44 am
i think they were playing harder than the last couple games, at leas harder than the bobcats game. i don’t like losing games on purpose…that has a bad way of biting you in the ass.

Bottom Line: Without Bosh we are a lottery team. I’m a TJ Ford supporter but he cost us any chance at this game we might’ve had by his chucking. Why Calderon didn’t get to start the fourth is questionable and why Ford wasn’t glued to the bench after his first three chucks, even more so.

Arsenalist > @ least you man/own up when TJ does crap. About the only other thing that annoys me (aside for the bickerings), is that when their player does bad, the fans/supporters go silent.
Raps Fan > yeah, I don’t think we’re trying to tank either, but, damn, it’s sure looking that way … on a side note, I isn’t this the first losing slump we’ve had in a long while? (not that I enjoy it)

i agree arsenalist. jose was playing much better than tj the whole game, but didn’t get the call to start the 4th. ok, so i accept that smitch wanted to sit him, but no more than 2 minutes, MAX. arroyo nicely coaxed tj into a pissing contest that ruined any chance of a comeback, really good call on that.
sic, it has been the first extended losing streak. i think the hard part is that 3 of 4 should have been wins, without bosh.
