The Toronto Raptors (30-24) have won two in a row and look to make it three when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves (11-43) on Wednesday night. This will be the second and final meeting of the two clubs this season. The Raptors took the first game earlier this month 105-82.
The Raptors are coming off a win over the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Carlos Delfino had a career high six three pointers for a total of 23 points. The Raptors improve to 4-0 when Delfino scores at least 20 points.
Starting 5:
Randy Foye/Jose Calderon
Sebastian Telfair/Anthony Parker
Corey Brewer/Jamario Moon
Ryan Gomes/Chris Bosh
Al Jefferson/Andrea Bargnani
Key Match-ups:
Chris Bosh is shooting over 65% in his last five games and should continue his torrid pace on Wednesday night. Bosh is doing a good job of keeping opponents on their heels by driving to the basket and knocking down jump shots. Al Jefferson will play Bosh physical, but Bosh should persevere and lead his team to victory.
Al Jefferson has scored in double digits in nineteen straight games. He’s a rising star in the NBA, but doesn’t have much of a supporting cast around him. AlJeff will most likely get his season average (21.3), but it won’t be enough against the balanced attack of the Raptors.
Game Notes:
Disgruntled veteran Antoine Walker hoped he would’ve been traded to a contender at the NBA Trade deadline, but finds himself still in a T-Wolves uniform and still riding the pine; Rashad McCants is averaging 17.7 ppg in his last 3 games; the Timberwolves are 9-20 at home this season.
Newly acquired C Primoz Brezec received his first DNP in a Raptor uniform against the Pacers after going 5/5 for 11 points the night before; Carlos Delfino has 15 three pointers in the past 4 games; TJ Ford continues to show he’s ready for bigger minutes, scoring 16 points, dishing out 7 assists, and grabbing 5 rebounds; Jose Calderon didn’t register a single assist in Mondays win. Only the second time all season he failed to record at least 3 assists; the Raptors are 17-11 at home this season.
