A better team would have beat the Raptors tonight, at least it seemed that way to me. The Pacers came out gunning in the 1st quarter; got out hustled by the Raps B-squad, clawed back in the 3rd, and made a game of it in the 4th.
I know what you’re thinking…rebounding killed the Raptors. Usually you would be right…surprisingly not tonight. The Raptors outrebounded the Pacers 46-39. This game was this close for two reasons:
- The Pacers had about 15 WIDE OPEN LOOKS FROM THE PERIMETER.
- The Raptors turned the ball over 17 times.
All this ads up to 16 more field goal attempts for the Pacers. Only stands to reason they would keep the game fairly close…annoyingly close in fact. The worst part of it all was that this was one of the most boring games I have watched in a while. The Pacers are hard to watch. Thank G*d Jermaine O’Neal wasn’t playing. He is super boring to watch on offense. Talk about a black hole on offense. I can’t stand him actually. He was lucky to get that massive contract, that he never even came close to living up too.
So no post of mine would be complete without some Moon bashing. Moon sucks man. He easily played the worst game of the season as far as I am concerned. Going back to the last two Knicks games. He gave the hot shooters enough space to hoist threes with reckless abandon…and they hit them all. Delfino was able to come in and pick up the defensive slack. Smitch didn’t look too happy with my moon my man, he still got off 8 shots. Calderon played like crap, but he was due…and here it comes…you ready? … that’s the luxury of having this point guard situation…there, I said it. Joke is, it’s true. TJ had a great game, dropping 16pts and 7ast.
Uhm…that’s all I have, freaking long day for me…sorry…here is my game wrapup:
1st Quarter:
- Bosh wins another tip-off, he has a good winning percentage there.
- Bargnani misses his first three point attempt.
- Bosh airballs over Murphy, then Murphy comes back and reverse dunk in Bosh’s mouth.
- Bosh goes right back at Murphy for an easy layup.
- Rush hits a wide open trey in transition, 7-2 Pacers.
- Dunleavy hits a runner over Bosh inside 15.
- Bosh gets fouled in the paint, hits both from the line.

- Calderon finishes a tough layup in traffic.
- Bosh misses a bank shot from 5 feet.
- Rush hits another open three from the top of the arc, timeout Raptors.
- Moon gets yanked for some really shit defense, the Raptors don’t hit a basket out of the timeout.
- Bosh is getting the ball on almost every possession, but he can’t seem to carry the load early on.
- Diener hits an open trey, I don’t know where Jose went on that one.
- Bargnani seems to be the only person working on the floor.
- Calderon cuts inside the arc, and hits a jumper.
- Diener starts out on the break after stealing the ball from Bargnani, and dishes to Dunleay for a layup.
- Delfino momentarily stops the bleeding with a trey.
- Harrison backs Bosh deep into the paint and puts a layup in his mouth.
- Delfino takes it to the rack and sticks it.
- Dunleavy hits an open trey.

- Dunleavy is all over the court, dude is playing nice for the Pacers.
2nd Quarter:
- Humphries sticks a layup off of Rashos pass all coming from TJ’s penetration.
- Delfino nails his 2nd trey.
- Humphries is really getting on my nervers, why the hell does he shoot the ball so much?

- Ford finds an open Rasho on the baseline who hits the jumper, the lead is cut to 3.
- Humphries hits a tough jumper.
- Granger hits a wide open three.
- Granger comes back, and hits a jumper.

- Bosh draws a charge on Dunleavy.
- Delfino hits another open trey off of Bosh’s offensive board.
- Ford finds Kapono for a layup in traffic with a sick pass + 1
- Moon blocks Granger on the drive, then forces a shot clock violation.
- Ford puts the Raptors up 2, hitting both shots from the line.
- Ford is feeling it, hitting a step back jumper over Diener.
- Moon gives Granger some space, and Granger nails an open three.
- For f*cks sakes…Moon pump fakes 8 times, and jacks a shot…obviously missing with a thud.
- Kapono cleans up the mess getting fouled on the offensive rebound, and hitting both from the line.
- Parker finds a cutting Kapono who misses the layup, but Bosh puts back the shot.
- Kapono catches and shots inside the arc.
- The Raptors rotate perfectly on defense, forcing the Pacers into a shot clock violation.
- Man I hate TSN productions…Rod Black is more annoying then the MLSE ass kissing crew.
3rd Quarter:
- Moon misses another jumper inside the arc.
- Parker curls off of a Moon screen, and nails the jumper on a catch and shoot from Calderon. I am a big fan of this play, they should go to it a couple times a quarter.
- Bosh draws a foul going to the rack, hits both from the line.
- Rush sticks a jumper over Bosh off the switch on the screen.
- Bargnani misses a trey off the high sreen with jose.
- Dunleavy takes it to the rack, blowing by Moon.
- Bosh travels on the baseline, with very little defensive pressure on him.
- Dunleavy blows by Moon for another layup.
- Moon misses another three point attempt, but Parker grabs the offensive rebound - Bosh finds a cutting Moon, who hits the layup + 1
- Bosh lays-up an alleyoop pass from Parker.
- Murphy shoots 6 free throws in a row…seriously.
- Moon and Murphy trade open dunks.
- Granger hits another trey.
- Calderon misses a trey.
- Bosh crumbles to the floor like a house of cards, but draws the foul, he hits both.
- Granger BLOWs by Bosh and lays it up in traffic.
- Delfino nails another trey from Fords swing pass.
- Daniels steals the ball from Bargnani, and dunks it on the break, Pacers up 3.
- Ford forces Daniels into a shot clock violation.
- Ford misses two layups in a row.
- Delfino drives hard to the rack, and draws a foul with 0.4 seconds left in the quarter, he hits both.
4th Quarter:
- Parker nails a trey to start the 4th off of Ford’s penetration.
- Ford stops and pops from the foul line.
- Bargnani blocks some black guys shot on the drive, but Ford turns it over on the other end.

- Dunleavy takes it to Bosh out of the timeout, and hits the layup.
- Parker takes it baseline, and draws a foul on Dunleavy, he hits both from the stripe.
- Daniels splits the defense like a hot knife through butter, and no one was there to help at the rim…he dunks it wide open…in a half court set.
- Ford penetrates and drops a sweet dime to Moon, who throws down a superman, draws the foul, but doesn’t hit the FT….this game is over still.
- Daniels gets another open lane to the rim, draws the foul from Moon, hits both from the line.

i probably should have said something about how great delfino is playing last few games…he really won this game for the raptors…bosh was quiet, and tj did all he could.

TJ was awesome tonight and Delfino shot the lights out. Having TJ in the line up makes the second unit so much better. He creates easier shots for guys like Kapono and Delfino and his overall control of the game is heads and shoulders above anything Martin or Dixon could do.
I was a little disapointed that Primo didnt get to see the floor. after watch the post game last night and having guys like Bosh, Rasho and Jose talk about how impressed they were with the guy, I thought he’d see extended minutes. BUt i guess the Pacers dont go very big (Granger or Dunleavy was the starting PF) maybe he’ll see some more PT when they take on the Timberwolves

Looks like we did agree on something, Carlos was just something tonight.
I might be naive on this, don’t you think he is on par for the Sixth Man Award with Barbosa from the Suns???

the game overall was pretty boring, but it was nice to see guys like TJ and Carlos step it up. the refs really slowed the game down with some pretty terrible calls and it really interrupted the flow. Raptors win which is nice, but damn Chuck calls for the Salami and CHeeze with 5 seconds left and the Raps had a 4 point lead. I know it’s tough to come back at that point, but it happens and one of these times chuck is going to call it and the raps will lose. it will be know as the curse of the s n c and no one will ever speak of it again

barbosa’s stats are bit better than delfinos, and he constantly has a huge impact on the suns games. personally, i think delfino should be starting…moon is playing himself out of the starting line-up.

3 games in a row that Caldy was shite (for the haters, I’m a Calderon fan). Hey Raps Fan, any conspiracy theories on why? It’d be fun to throw a couple together.
WORSE game by Moon in some time.
I haven’t bashed Smitch in a bit, but going small ball with this many bigs on our team? WTF do WE always have to adjust to other teams? In THIS case, a CRAP team?
Raps Fan > it was so funny/boring at times, that I ended up watching the Pussycat dolls girlicous … lol
Hi Primo! Meet Smitch, let Smitch introduce you to bench. Would it have killed us to play Primo with Bosh for a bit?
Now THIS is the TJ that even the most ardent Calderon supporter (meaning me), would love to have play. I’d give him the starting role in a hearbeat if he just plays more like he did in the 1st 1/2 (getting everyone involved, taking it in when he can) VS the 2nd (4th quarter, started to force it again). But, very good performance.
Delfino. Fun to watch. Dagger threes. Needs hair product ad.
Bargs — er. Since I promised not be hard on him til next year, maybe we can suggest that he start every other game instead?

i have one theory, but it isn’t really good:
i really think calderon needs to think this team is his to contribute at the level we saw him contribute at while tj was out. with tj coming back, and starting to regain form, he is taking some of that pressure off calderon’s shoulders, and jose is playing down a bit to accommodate. almost like he is reserved to moving back to the bench, and letting tj start. like i said, not a great theory, but i think it can be tweaked to account for what is going on.
as far as starting, i don’t know if tj will be get that job back, but we saw him play big minutes with the game on the line, i think we can can expect more of that.
as far as primo, i don’t know if i would have played him after he called everyone on the team a gangster. smitch was probably trying to teach him a lesson. i agree that he has to utilize the bigs we have, and make teams adjust to us.
i think delfino needs to start…moon has outworn his welcome, and potentially cost himself a couple million on his next contract with his play from before the all-star break.

They were missing their two best players, if we had dropped this one it would’ve been flat out embarrassing. To me the bench won this game for us, we outscored them 55-24 or something crazy like that.
I saw this game on PVR and it took me an hour and fifteen minutes to finish the whole thing. Great way to save time.

Raps Fan > I agree with you man. I do think Jose is trying to make it easy for Smitchy to move TJ in. Wow. That’s really unheard of innit? LOL, if it’s true, and if TJ can keep playing unselfish team 1st ball, then I’m not one to complain with that arrangement.
LOL @ Primo. I doubt he meant it disrespectfully. Most likely the opposite. Too funny by far.
I also agree with Delfino starting over Moon. Can’t we mass mail the Raps to penalize him $100 for every dunk that he turns into a lame acrobatic lay up, or pass to a teamate under the basket that has opposing players draped on him? GAH!
February 26th, 2008 at 2:56 pm
man, i have to get one of those pvr’s, maybe a tivo…they are damn cheap now.
but yea, if they lost it = very bad for raptors. i have a feeling they will be gunning hard on friday, can’t come out flat at all.
i agree SiC, primo didn’t mean it disrespectfully, but still…damn funny … lol
moon doesn’t make that kind of money to pay $100 for every dunk that wasn’t taken advantage of…especially with the money he has played himself out of for the next contract…delfino has earned startes status…give it to him already.

Mitchell has said he likes TJ with the 2nd unit, and will stay there. Gives him more freedom to create his game and shot as well as set up Delfino and Kapono, without having to run the P&R with Bosh.
Calderon is better for now with Bosh and the starters where he can run a more structured half court game.
TJ is fine with that program and Jose is happy to play wherever Mitchell wants him to. That’s the deal for the forseeable future.
February 26th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
I dont mind Moon starting so much. If/when he struggles then Smitch can bring Delfino in off the bench. Moon does provide the raps with more shot blocking and rebounding which makes any scoring a bonus, thats if of course Bosh, Calderon, Parker and Bargs are putting the ball in the basket.
the raps rotation is a little messed right now and Smtich has to start thinking about giving his starters a little more time on the bench whenever he can. FOrds mintues will increase and Rasho and PRimo should see some more floor for Bosh, at least at the end of quarters.
