Not sure if you guys heard this, I just came across it today, thought I would share the wealth. Colangelo being interviewed on ESPN Radio Podcast after the Boston win, where he talks about Calderon and Bargnani. Nothing new on the Bargnani front, but very interesting to hear about Calderon. Apparently last year during draft time and beyond, a lot of people offered interesting deals for Calderon. Looks Colangelo will not be trading Calderon, as he said as much, so it leaves some doubt about the situation when Ukic comes over, and if/when TJ returns. He even goes so far as to thank Babcock, never thought I would ever hear that, although we all know that was the best move Babcock made, interesting listen.

Liatened to BC’s reply and am anxious to see if he gives the next draft pick several years to mature. I think it’s only natural for Raptor fans to expect more then a work in progress. Given the fact he was the overall #1 pick.

i tend to agree, i remember him saying that bargnani will be a bit of a project, but do you really bet the # 1 pick on a project? i wouldn’t…

It took awhile for me to even find the podcast on the ESPN page. Good find! I remember BC saying that as well about Bargs.
Trying to think rationally, I think most people (including me), understand that with Bargs, there is a long list of why we should wait-and-see (big man develops slow, euro-player getting used to NBA, Nowitzki developing slow/had no D, etc.) except, we get very frustrated when he is out with the starting line up and plays a bit lackadaisical.
There are times when he looks lost, soft, and/or uncaring, and maybe it’s the laid back attitude, but I guess we look for more “fire” from the guy.
To be honest, right now, after a few decent efforts, I don’t know what to think about the guy. I have to maintain though, that I still don’t think he should have been #1, and the Raps could have traded down to take him at even the 5th spot.

It’s so much easier to be negative then positive when talking about Bargs. True as a #1 pick he should be able to step in and be a high calibre NBA player like the #1’s before him (Bogut, DHoward, LeBron, Yao), but if you look at this as a marathon and not a race then you have to give Bargs time. He shows signs of brillance and has the tools, but he needs to go under the radar for a bit and get his game back. the raps are doing the right thing by having him in the starting lineup and playing him when he plays well. I think that we’ll all look back at this in a couple years and be thankful that BC drafted El Mago #1
