Quality win for the Raptors. Not a must win, but it really was. Can’t be losing to teams who aren’t .500 at this point. Can’t get excited over this win, but I am for one reason: the Hawks went on a 13-2 run to start the 3rd, and the Raptors responded with a run of their own to take a lead into the 4th. You read it, the Raptors withstood a serious run, retook the lead, and held on for the win.
Moon has been impressing me with his ability to rebound from making mistakes, putting it behind him, and making serious contributions on the floor. Bargnani started off reasonably well, but was berried on the bench for non-inspirational play. Parker has been the unsung hero of the last couple weeks. His play has been the missing link for this team, with Delfino offering the same spark off the bench. They still need help on the boards, but are making due with what they have. If BC makes a trade, I think it will be to address rebounding and scoring in the paint, not another PG, book it.
So Horfod ruins Ford’s career, and everyone feels bad for him. What do the Hawks do for an encore? Johnson elbows Calderon in the back of the head. It is bullshit, another serious physical incident with the Raptors and nothing. I don’t know man, I am getting embarrassed. Girl scouts look out for their own more vigilantly then these guys. I appreciate the fans booing Horford. He shouldn’t be allowed to walk into our house, and have an easy go at it. He needs to be reminded that the foul, thought he may not wanted to injure Ford (I am sure he wanted to foul him hard though), that he needs to be responsible for his actions. Sorry about the lame post, but I don’t have much, it was a rough week, now down to business:
1st Quarters:
- G*d I hope Horford gets booed. No sense giving him an easy go at it in our house.
- Bosh wins the tip.
- Bargs swings the ball to Moon for the jumper.
- Moon steals the ball from Marvin Williams, leads to Parker dunk on break.
- Moon steals the ball from Josh Smith..Atlanta looking shaky in the early goings.
- Calderon lob pass to Bosh for the dunk, timeout Hawks.
- Smith converts post-up over Bosh.
- Parker hits a tear drop in the lane from a curl off the screen.
- Bosh airs fade away…should have passed out of the double team.
- Makes up for it by hitting a layup +1.
- I’m pretty sure I heard Horford get booed, it was weak, but I’ll take it.

- Bargnani grabs a board in traffic on the defensive end.
- Calderon turns the ball over, weak.
- Bosh hits running hook over Horford in the paint.
- Moon fouls Smith on layup in the paint…he has to learn he can’t block everything… +1
- Hawks are right up in the Raptors grill.
- Bargnani playing pretty good to start the game.
- Moon takes it baseline, and gets fould - hits both.
- Horford definitely getting booed…LOUDER Y’ALL!

- Bosh schools Horford on drive.
- Rasho defense causes Horford to travel.
- Bosh is an animal in the paint.
- Raptors playing some good defense, not making anything easy for the Hawks.
- Childress looks like a cracked out black toothpick.
- Calderon nails a jumper after a vicious pump fake on Acie Law.
- Damn, Parkers tear drop is dangerous…where the hell did that come from?
- Moon gambling a bit too much on defense for my liking.

- Calderon nails a jumper before the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter:
- Hawks hitting the offensive boards, gotta limit those.
- Lorenzen Wright bails Bosh out on a shaky fade on the baseline…missess both.

Krispy KremeMartin didn’t dress for the game. - Kapono, locked-and-loaded, hits an open j at the top of the key.
- Humphries missess a wicked pass from Dixon…idiot.
- Delfino takes it to Law on the break, misses both ft.
- Raptors not switching on the pick, Acie Law got a wide open shot, lucky he missed.
- Humphries drives from outside, and crowns Wright…wasn’t expecting that shit.
- Humphries, and I’ve said this before, should not be the first offensive option.
- Smith turns the ball over, and Dixon finishes on the break.
- Raptors interior defense weak with Bosh/Moon on the bench.
- Horford bricks his first shot.
- Smith is on fire (has scored 20 of the first 33 points), Raptors timeout.
- 24 second shot clock violation…way to execute out of a timeout.
- Woodson looks stoned! lol
- Calderon bailed out when Johnson misses a wide open layup.
- Delfino gets called for a charge.
- Hump finishes layup on nice feed from Calderon.
- Hawks hanging around.
- Smith rejects Hump to half court.
- Delfino blocks Williams on a dunk attempt, but gets called for a foul, looked good to me.
- Ask the Expert: “who determines who takes the inbound pass” I’m embarrassed…seriously, I am.
- Bosh blows by Smith and puts down a two hander.
- Humphries causes a turnover that leads to a Horford dunk on the break.
- Raptors freethrow shooting is ass, 6 for 11.
- Johnson gets tossed out for elbowing Calderon in the head…no response from a Raptor player…wtf! Although it happened quick..but still.
- If the Horford foul wasn’t bad enough, that one was the type of shit that can kill someone. Seriously, elbow someone in the back of the head?
- Swirsky is pissed off!!
- At least the elbow hasn’t affected Calderon, he hits both free throws.
- Bosh banging in the post, draws foul on Smith - hits both shots from the line.
- Mitchell calls a timeout with 21 seconds left int he 2nd…bizzarro…
- Bosh stumbles, and picks up a charge…how the hell was that a play that Smitch drew up, seriously?
- Law puts up a brick as time expires.
3rd Quarter:
- Moon steals another one.
- Bargnani hesitates, and misses jumper, leads to Horford layup in transition.
- Raptors move the ball nicely, but shot clock violation…Bargs should have shot it.
- Williams going right at Bargnani, running hook +1 - misses free throw.
- Raptors sloppy to start the quarter…Hawks on 6-0 lead to take the lead.
- Raptors need a timeout.
- Moon missess a jumper with no one rebounding…
- Williams puts down a dunk, off Smith post up.
- Run an ass play, that leads to an easy Smith layup on the other end.
- Bosh finally scores on layup in traffic.
- Johnson burries a trey as the buzzer went off for a 13–2 run.
- Bosh hits a j from the elbow.
- Bosh keeping the Raptors alive…
- Smith answers with a looong jumper.

It’s hard being a Raptors fan. I know we won, but, wow. Getting handled like that, and with no one even shaking a fist, or jawing at the other team is, embarrassing?
SmitcH ran onto the floor when TJ got crushed by Al. No reaction on Calderon getting elbowed in the head (which is even illegal in the UFC. Imagine, a blow so devastating, that it is illegal in a fight sport!). I have to wonder what Calderon’s state of mind is.
Was it just me or was the crowd lifeless the first 3 quarters? Did anyone go to the game? Did the they show the clip of Calderon getting hit?

the calderon situation was so quick, i can forgive no one doing anything about it. but still, shine a nasty look or something.

Exactly. If there was any question for us getting a “tough” player, then this is it.
Made the mistake of going to RealGM after to look for reactions and … was reminded that basketball is still a young sport in this country and the majority of fans would probably pick Allan Iverson (or whoever SLAM has anointed as PG flavour of the month) as a starting PG over Pistol Pete, Magic, or even Isaiah.
I thought Delfino did well defensively, granted he missed two wide open 3’s, but he played within the offense.
Was it my imagination or did Calderon start playing like a madman in the dying seconds?
BTW, for all the talk in the press about how there is “bad blood” between the two teams, I, for one, didn’t really see any (elbow notwithstanding).

oh man, there are like 3 guys on realgm who have something useful to say, everyone else…sucks.
i was really partial to isiah when he lined up with dumars….probably my favourite backcourt of all time. my favourite pg was stockton though, hands down, the dude was just about business, and was damn good at it.

Raps Fan > my favorite Stockton play is when he hooks his defender (defender fights thru screen) when he drives, and he gets the (blocking) call every single time. It was specially funny when he did it against a much younger Bibby and J. Williams during the playoffs, when people were starting to ask if he was slowing down.
Calderon should be forced to watch a ton of Stockton tapes. If Calderon/Bosh could even become 1/3 of Stockton/Malone, then it’d be great.

I know you guys want a reaction from the raptors bench or something but I’m thinking Sam basically made a deal with them that it’s okay for the coach to be ejected but not the players. anyone not on the floor isn’t suppose to leave the bench area. and the ones on the floor didn’t even know what was going on

Hayyyyy! Whats up y’all? I was watching tonight with my man Darnell, and I was so mads at that ugly mans who elbowed that nice cute puerto rican boy. I’d rock his world! Fo sho! Why all those other white uniform mens not do anything?

This is exactly what I call a must-win, same for Philly tomorrow. I was hoping for a 3-1 week from the beginning and we looks to be heading towards it. The NBA needs to suspend Anthony Johnson for a couple games at the very least, that shit was unacceptable.
I think Moon getting into the passing lanes to come up with steals which leads to points was the difference, namely the third quarter AP threes.
January 19th, 2008 at 9:14 am
definitely. i am a bit afraid of philly tonight, they play with a lot of pride, and don’t give up, but again, no reason the raptors don’t win.

Raps should win tonight but will Bargs have a good game? Is he a bust?
