Another boring game, especially without Bosh and Lebron. The Raptors played pretty good, until they went up by 20 in the 4th with about 8 minutes to go. Then the Cavs scored 5 in a row. Normally, a timeout would be called, to stop the momentum, even though you’re up. Not in this lifetime it seems. I haven’t seen the proper use of a timeout during Mitchell’s tenure, and I don’t suspect I will. Very frustrating…. Continue Reading

There are a lot of question marks going into the Friday match up between the Cleveland (9-7) Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors (8-7). The injury bug has plagued the Cavs all year and is hitting the Raps lately. Superstar forward LeBron James suffered a sprained finger in Wednesday’s loss to the Detroit Pistons. The Cavs are already without Larry Hughes (leg) and Donyell Marshall (wrist), but they can ill afford to lose LeBron for anytime. James is a game time decision. The Raptors lost forward Chris Bosh (groin) and Andrea Bargnani (knee) in Wednesdays win over the Grizzlies. Bargnani is expected to be in the line up and Bosh is considered day to day. Not much to say, it was a pretty well played game by the Raptors (well, the second half was, I missed the first half). Balanced scoring, another great game by Calderon. Parker was sporting a shaved head, Delfino’s hair didn’t move the whole time he played…talk about product. Nice to have Nesterovic back, his low post presence is missed when he’s not playing. Bosh and Bargnani went down. Hopefully they can play against Cleveland. Joey Graham even got some court time. I think he is officially the 15th man on the bench. Continue Reading

The Toronto Raptors (7-7) will look to get back over .500 tonight when the Memphis Grizzlies (5-9) visit the ACC. This will mark the second and last time these two teams will meet this year. The Raptors beat the Grizzlies 95-89 a week ago in Memphis. Chris Bosh led the Raptors with 22 points and 19 rebounds. Mike Miller was the best Grizzly on the floor, recording a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Continue Reading

With Calderon being in a contract year, I got to thinking what impact resigning him would have on the Raptors. You have to imagine that he has earned something comperable to what TJ is making. I started to dig up player salaries, and found some very interesting things. We all know that one of the reasons Colangelo took this job was the favourable salary cap situation in Toronto. How favourable was a bit of a surprise to me. Below is the Raptors salary situation until the 2010-2011 season: Continue Reading

24 hours after losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Toronto Raptors (5-6) will do battle at home against the struggling Chicago Bulls (2-8). The Raptors beat the Bulls earlier this season in a blow out 101-71. Carlos Delfino led the Raptors with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Andres Nocioni led the Bulls with 20 points and 5 rebounds. It will be the battle of .500 teams when the Toronto Raptors (6-6) visit the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-5) Saturday afternoon. The Raptors are coming off a win over the Grizzlies 95-89. Forward Chris Bosh had a monster game, scoring 22 points and grabbing 19 boards. Center Andrea Bargnani had his first double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and adding 11 rebounds. The Raptors had a balanced attack with six different players scoring in double digits. Continue Reading

In these days of free agency professional athletes usually leave the teams that draft them for more money somewhere else. If more players stuck around with their original teams you would see a different NBA. This is painfully true in Toronto, where some of their draft picks have moved on and become stars somewhere else. I put together a draft day line up for the Toronto Raptors. Continue Reading

I don’t have much to say about tonight’s game. The same problems still linger, but fortunately for the Raptors, Memphis has some young guys, an injured Conley, and a disinterested franchise player. I was actually expecting a better showing from Memphis, but I’ll take it. Continue Reading

Please note the difference in language used by Avery and Mitchell. More specifically, Avery talks about how some of his players came in, and didn’t let the game get out of hand. How they made adjustments, and had a great run in the 3rd. Mitchell talks about breakdowns, not making shots, turnovers, mistakes, but good things happening. He didn’t say what good things. Obviously Bosh and Bargnani waking up, but those should be given things, not good things. Continue Reading
