Two high profile players have demanded trades recently. Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko and Phoenix Sun forward Shaun Marion are both aren’t happy with their current situations. Kirilenko is unhappy with Coach Jerry Sloan and Marion is upset with Suns management regarding trade talks and contract extentions. So where could these highly talented ballers end up? Here are a few scenarios I drummed up.
Atlanta sends Marvin Williams, Josh Childress and Anthony Johnson to Utah for Andrei Kirilenko.
Both Childress and Johnson’s contracts expire at the end of the year. Childress would fit in nice at shooting guard and Johnson would probably be waived. Marvin Williams is a former second overall pick that is stuck behind some good young talent in Atlanta. His contract expires in two years, but would be a RFA and the Jazz would want to lock this guy up.
Atlanta would get a versatile player who can play at either small forward or power forward and a defensive specialist who could guard almost anyone in the game. Could you imagine the block party Josh Smith and Kirilenko would put on?
Washington sends Antwan Jamison and a condititonal first round pick to Phoenix for Shaun Marion. Washington would upgrade at the forward position and soak up the final few years of Marion’s contract. The Suns would receive a very capable and versatile forward in Jamison and also a first round pick because Jamison will be a free agent after this season.
What do you guys think?

I would have liked to see a raptors trade in the article, but those 2 trades make sense. Atlanta should think about trading away some of their young talent and get a seasoned vet. you could throw Marions name around with the Hawks too. wherever those 2 guys go they are going to be successful, AK47 more than Marion I think because if you leave Phoenix you leave career highs

sadly for utah, they really dont have many holes in their roster to fill. kirilenko is just unhappy playing there. they will need a power forward, or major cap relief. if i was dealing with atlanta, i would only want joe johnson, or josh smith. the rest of the team doesn’t really inspire me (except for salim stoudamire, kid is sick)
as for the marion trade…i would do it in a second if i was the wizards, but jamison doesnt satisfy either phoenix’s need for cap relief or a back up point gaurd.

Kirilenko would be a pretty good fit on the Raps. We could use his length and shot-blocking ability on defense, but I doubt we have the ability to make a move like this. As for Marion, I was never really too impressed by him, it’ll be interesting to see how he performs in a more confined offense, unlike Phoenix’s.

in all fairness, he was sick before the suns were the suns. playing with nash makes things easier. he can’t create his own shots, but hes dangerous around the rim.

Marion is unbelievable. he was the top rated fantasy player for a few years and is usually a keeper in fantasy leagues. i really like the drama in bball when it comes to a “trade demand” by a superstar. if the team is going to move him then they’ll need match salaries, which is a difficult when you are trading away a guy who makes 16 million a year. in any other sport you could just throw some young prospects and you get to dumb the superstars salary.
Jamison doesnt really satisfy the suns backup pg position, but the suns management could have done that anytime this offseason with guys like Boykins and Blake available for realitively cheap. if the suns want to dump cash then picking up Jamsion for one more year takes off around 16 mill next season, plus the draft pic. this is all speculation, but it’s a lot of fun

I always thought Marion’s game resembled Scottie Pippen from the all-around game to the awkward looking shots that go in to the similarities they even look with one another physically. Having thought of this, the only logical solution that best fits Marion’s game would be a move to the Cavaliers to be Lebron’s “Pippen”. However, the only way I can see this happening is with the Cavs having to depart with Varejo as the main part of the deal and a few other players which ironically would benefit the Suns more than the numbers would show because of AV’s hustle and Phoenix style of play.

i actually think AV is over rated. he is not the $9-$10 million per year player fegan is trying to get for him. i would pull that trade in a second if i was ferry. marion is more of an all around player than AV.
