The Indiana Pacers declined the Raptors offer to restricted free agent forward Maceo Baston today, making the 31 year old the newest Toronto Raptor. Last week the Raptors offered Baston a two year contract worth around 3.8 million. Baston will become a two time Raptor and join former Maccabi Tel Aviv teammate Anthony Parker.
After a relatively busy off season, it looks as though Bryan Colangelo has put together the team he wanted. The signings of Baston and Kapono, as well as the acquisition of Carlos Defino, the Raptors will have a different look when they start training camp later on this summer.

hopefully this is one of those signings that goes unnoticed in the summer, but come october it is a steal of a deal. what do you think the starting 5 will be for the raps this year?
ford, parker, bargs, bosh, rasho
ford, parker, delfino, bargs, bosh
ford, parker, graham, bosh, rasho

I can’t really say that this team his improved from last year, at least not yet. Baston and Delfino aren’t exactly proven players and can only help the team so much. Kapono is an upgrade offensively over Mo Pete but even there we’re losing on some defensive abilities.
I don’t think the roster as it is right now is what BC wants going into the season.

the starting lineup will probably be:
ford, parker, bosh, bargnani and rasho
i agree with arsenalist, we lost some defense for more consistent offense. i might be reading into things, but it looks like colangelo is just adding some assets to swing a trade.
all the teams in the atlantic, save philly, made some big changes this off season. with kristc coming back, and magloire signing with the nets, i think the nets will be the team to beat in this division.

Yeah, I’d be shocked if we don’t make a trade.
