…and all but say goodbye to Mo Pete. Colangelo picked up the Argentinian from Detroit for two second round picks in ‘09 and ‘11, bringing the number of international players to 7. The sparingly used guard shores up an already solid back court for the Raptors. The 24 year old swing guard, when given some time, has shown some game and heart over the last couple years.
This could also spell the end for Calderon, who is rumored to be headed to Atlanta, along with Joey Graham (thank G*d) for Josh Childress and another player. Childress isn’t the tough slashing/rebounding/gritty/scoring small forward the Raptors really need, but is another long athletic body that Colangelo likes. If this deal does go through, the Raptors will be in dire need of some toughness. I wouldn’t be surprised if Colangelo pulls off one or two more trades before pre-season kicks off.
