So day 1 of my new years resolution…
I blame that last minute brick by Derrick Martin on going back to the old/new ball. If it was the synthetic one they were playing with all year, he would have nailed that desperation, off balance, floating, ugly ass shot…lol jk.
I really didn’t expect too much against the suns, all with the Suns being the Suns, and The Toronto Raptors being who we are (minus TJ and Jorge). Turned out to be a great game though. What a welcome back for Chris Bosh. The kid is sick, straight up and down. He misses 12 games, plays 41 minutes, scores 26 on 11-22 from the floor, grabs 14 boards, and keeps makes all the right plays (except putting Steve Nash at the line for 3 free throws). I must admit, I really liked what I saw. Cant wait for TJ and Jorge to get back. 1st in the Atlantic isn’t improbable anymore, especially with Jefferson out of the picture for the time being.
Dereck Martin shouldn’t have been on the flour in the final few minutes while Jose Calderon rode the pine. I don’t know, but that is just me. I understand TJ is out, so the the logical move for me would be to up Jose’s the ball. Give him some crunch time minutes, see what he can do, groom him for a solid career in the league. Don’t give those valuable minutes to a geriatric brick layer, come on!!! The final play was a disaster, I am still upset about it.
All in all though, there are real things to be excited about. I am done hating on my Toronto Raptors…let the Mitchell hating begin. I am going on record as saying that Mitchell is a lame duck. The only way he can save his job right now is to go something like 45-5 for the rest of the year. Call me an idiot for pointing out the obvious, but I am feeling Marc Ivaroni as the next head coach of the Toronto Raptors. I say this knowing absolutely nothing about the man, and his skills, just what I read and heard about him.
On another note, the Phoenix Suns look to me as though they can actually go all the way. If Stoudemire didn’t have that injury, he would be an absolute scary person (nevermind, he is scary now!). If they can consistently make key defensive stops, this is the team to beat in my estimation. I will however be rooting against them, and pining for the days of solid defense a la the old Eastern Conference bad boys (Knicks, Pistons, and of course the Bulls).
I feel some rambling coming on, so in the interests of not alienating my already small audience, I will wrap it up. Peace.
