Colangelo is batting 1000 since coming aboard:
- Lands the 1st overall pick (I know he had nothing do with it, but it happened during his tenure)
- He trades Araujo for an equal donut, but at least we don’t have the terrible smell of taking Araujo over Iguadala lurking in the wings
- Lands Nesterovic for Eric Williams, Matt Bonner and a 2nd round pick in 2009.
He also apparantly pulled this deal off without affecting the salary cap, which means we still have $10 million to chase a couple more pieces.
Rumour Mill:
Rumour 1: A purposed trade of Ray Allen for the 1st pick and a couple players. I would do it! Don’t think about it. If it is a real deal, go for it. That being said, I would try to work a larger deal to include Wilcox if possible. Ray Allen has 3-4 years of solid basketball in him. A deal like this, I would imagine being Allen for the 1st pick, Joey Graham and Maybe MoPete. Seems a bit steep, but MoPete and Graham aren’t as good as Allen combined, in my estimation anyways.
Rumour 2: Magloire and TJ Ford for a group of players. Sounds intriguing, but I don’t know how this would work with Nesterovic in the mix. I assume we would lost Villenuava, 1st pick, and maybe Joey Graham. This would however create an interesting front court of Bosh, Magloire and Nesterovic. Move Bosh to small forward, and you have a front court that would give a lot of teams some problems.
